Vale of White Horse Under 15s bowed out of the Wright Cup with a 2-1 defeat by Aldershot & District in a cracking quarter-final at Milton United.

Richard Taylor and Oliver Taylor had good opportunities to give Vale the lead in the first half, but their shots were saved by the Aldershot keeper.

Aldershot took the lead early in the second half, James Pilgrim bending a free-kick into the top corner.

Nick Christodoulou raced away to equalise, and Oliver Taylor had the ball in the net only for another player to be given offside.

Kieran Carey restored Aldershot's lead, and it took two excellent saves from keeper Leigh Bedwell to deny the visitors a third goal.

Vale of White Under 11s missed out on qualifying for the knockout stages in the ESFA South West Regional final of the Inter-Association 7-a-side Championship at Poole.

The competition was played on a merit table basis with the top four teams going through.

In their opening game, a dominant Vale were held to a goalless draw by Newbury.

Vale then went down 1-0 to Portsmouth, before beating Swindon 3-1 with goals from Jared Jones (2) and Alex Thomas to keep their hopes alive.

It meant Vale could reach the semi-finals with victory in their last game against Poole & East Dorset.

However, a 1-0 defeat ended their challenge.
