POLICE today appealed for witnesses after a woman was assaulted while tending a horse near Shrivenham.

The woman in her twenties was assaulted by a man whilst tending to a horse near Stratton Borough Farm which is between Watchfield and Highworth at 8am on Friday.

Det Sgt Mark Johns said: "The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance but has since been released. Fortunately her injuries are not serious but she was left very shocked and shaken and I am treating this incident with concern.

"The man who assaulted her is believed to be white, 5ft 10in tall, medium build and in his late thirties. He has short dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.

"I am appealing to anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area or who saw a new silver small hatchback car to contact me."
