THE Mayor of Wallingford’s thoughts are with the family and friends of a woman who was found dead with “serious injuries”.

Marcus Harris said he was “shocked” to hear that a woman in her forties was found dead in Blue Mountains at 2am today (August 30) by Thames Valley Police.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and a 28-year-old man from Wallingford has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Mr Harris said: “I can only echo [the neighbours] that this is a shocking situation and is something that thankfully very rarely happens in our community.

“My thoughts go out to this woman’s friends and her family. It is such a rare thing for us to have any violence – it’s so shocking and sad.”
