TRADITIONAL Morris Dancing will be taking place in Abingdon for Bank Holiday Monday.

The dancers will be performing today (Monday, August 29) will be starting at 3pm outside the Punchbowl pub in Marketplace.

At 4pm, the group will then be outside The Broad Face pub in Bridge Street.

The group, Abingdon Traditional Morris Dancers, advertised their performance on Facebook.

On the post, they said: “Quite possible there will be a few tunes in one of the pubs afterwards”.

Morris dancing is a form of English folk dance based on rhythmic stepping and the execution of choreographed figures by a group of dancers, usually wearing bell pads on their shins.

Implements such as sticks, swords and handkerchiefs may also be wielded by the dancers.
