The screw is slowly turning on our criminals - and not before time.

The latest weapon in the police armoury is the head camera.

Officers at the scene will be able to film a crime as it happens, and use the pictures they take as evidence in court.

Some of the footage could be beamed back to the police station, providing more potential witnesses to a crime.

The £90,000 Thames Valley Police is spending on 70 head cameras and equipment will be money well spent.

They should prove useful in tackling a wide range of offences.

Our only hope is that the pictures are better than many of the grainy images we get from CCTV cameras.
