A man has been sentenced for an assault that occurred in Witney.
Wayne Heep, 49, of Blakes Avenue, Witney, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment suspended for two years at Oxford Crown Court yesterday (19/8).
He was convicted of one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm at an earlier hearing.
Heep must also carry out 30 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 180 hours of unpaid work.
On 31 August 2020, Heep hit the victim, a teenage girl, with a bike lock chain in Cogges Park Witney.
He was charged on 3 December 2021.
Investigating officer, PC Sarah Finch, based at Witney police station, said: “This was an unprovoked assault carried out by Heep who caused swelling and bruising to his victim’s face.
“Thames Valley Police does not tolerate this behaviour and will bring offenders to justice.”
