An army veteran pensioner and his wife had their window smashed and house egged by rowdy youths.

The 84-year-old man, who lives in Purslane Drive, Bicester, and wished to remain anonymous, told the Oxford Mail that his house has been egged twice within the last few days.

On the second occasion, the culprits also threw a stone which smashed the conservatory window.

The pensioner said: “Maybe they’re picking on us because we’re old and make an easy target.

“All of the eggs were splattered on the side of the house, above the conservatory. We live on a corner, so I suppose it’s a quick getaway for whoever did it.

“A neighbour 20 yards down the road had their house egged too, and a few years ago we had apples being thrown over the garden wall; one of them came right into the living room door.

“I think a lot more people’s houses are being dirtied, but they’re not coming forward about it.”

The former military man was part of the Royal Artillery regiment, and spent three years training young soldiers at an army apprentice college.

He added: “I feel bad for these kids. You know, if they end up getting a criminal record they won’t be able to get a job, and that would be a shame.”
