A CITY centre car park has reopened – after the hot weather caused havoc and pushed back the initial reopening date.
Oxford City Council had planned to reopen Oxpens car park on Saturday, after closing it on May 16 so that disused decking could be removed.

A council spokesperson said the car park could not open at the weekend as the hot weather ‘affected the car park’s surface’ and that reopening would ‘risk damaging people’s vehicles and footwear’.
The car park has now reopened though, after an inspection was carried out this morning and it was deemed safe to open.
The car park, which has 178 parking spaces, has also gone cashless.
