POLICE have arrested a man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of a blade article after a fight in Oxford yesterday (13).

The man, 45, was arrested after reports of an assault on Cowley Road, near the junction with James Street, at about 2.15pm.

Police taped off the end of James Street an ambulance was in attendance. An eyewitness said: "Two people had been fighting and one man was hit over the head and bleeding".

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said: “Officers attended the scene and arrested a 45-year-old man from Oxford on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

"He is currently in police custody. If anyone was in the area, and has any information, please call 101 and quote reference 43220361420.”
