The significant increase in fuel prices is leading to a surge in reports of fuel theft.

Thames Valley Police have stated that oil, diesel, petrol and heating fuel have repeatedly been targeted.

It offers the following advice to prevent becoming a victim: “Implement a fuel management system – this will counteract any unauthorised usage.

“Keep the tank visible, natural surveillance reduces vulnerability, but ensure that the tank is not visible from the road.

“Reduce access points – keep gates closed and block unused exit points.

“Install an alarm for your fuel tank and a monitoring system to notify you if the fuel level suddenly drops.

“Use anti-siphoning devices, consider a detection system or CCTV and restrict access, possibly by installing bollards.”
