Tomorrow morning I am sending out my latest Oxford Mail trade and tourism newsletter.

It's a round-up of the latest Oxford Mail stories I have been working on this week - including a series of features on pubs which are competing for the Oxford Mail Best Pub 2022 competition.

One of my favourites was The Victoria Arms in Old Marston - which looks well worth a visit.

And it sounded like The White Hart in Headington is very well supported - partly because it serves delicious pies.

I love talking to pub managers and traders to find out just how business is going, and spotting significant changes in the city centre.

The future of the former Debenhams store remains uncertain.

Here's a preview of this week's newsletter:

This week I have had the pleasure of speaking to plenty of pub managers for the Oxford Mail's Best Pub 2022 competition.

Ten pubs were nominated from Oxford and the surrounding area and now drinkers are using tokens from our newspaper to vote for their favourite.

There can only be one winner but managers at all the pubs told me they were delighted to be on the shortlist.

I haven't had time to visit them all personally but after speaking to such dedicated teams I will gradually tick them off my list.

In other news, I enjoyed chatting with Luciana Gyuricza who runs the Teardrop bar at the Covered Market.

There are no concrete plans yet for the former Debenhams store in Magdalen Street - a definite contrast to what is happening with the former Boswells store a short distance away.
