WATER is coming up from a drain in Oxford city centre – as a hosepipe ban has been announced in the region.

Four water companies – including Thames Water – have all imposed hosepipe bans.

Welsh Water, Southern Water and South East Water have also brought in bans, while Yorkshire Water has announced a ban will start on August 26.

Despite this, water has been seen trickling through Cornmarket Street in Oxford since this morning, creating puddles outside stores including Greggs and McDonald’s.

No workers from Thames Water have been reported in Cornmarket, to deal with the problem.

Thames Water has been contacted for a comment.
