A CLOTHING store in Wantage is closing down in January next year.

Staff members at FatFace, in Market Place, were recently informed the store would be closing and that they risk facing redundancy.

Residents were sad to hear the news with many wondering which business will use the premise once the clothing store has gone.

On the Facebook group Wantage and Grove Community, one resident said: “Shame that FatFace is going, it is the only halfway decent clothes shop in Wantage.”

Another person added: “So yet another shop going in the town - FatFace are closing in January.

“Maybe, if we’re lucky, we will get another charity shop, or a card shop, or an Estate Agents. One thing it won’t become is a Lidl.”

This comes as plans to build a Lidl in the town are due to be rejected by Vale of White Horse District Council next week.
