An east Oxford man died after suffering a heart attack in a park, a coroner’s court heard.
Omar Ali, 55, was in the ‘local park’ – not named when his inquest was opened at Oxford Coroner’s Court this week - when he suffered the cardiac arrest on May 9.
Senior coroner for Oxfordshire Darren Salter said Mr Ali, a divorcee who lived in James Street, east Oxford, ‘never recovered’ from the medical episode.
He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital but died on May 10, a day after his collapse.
Following a post-mortem, the cause of his death was given as hypoxic brain injury following his cardiac arrest and ‘multi-drug toxicity’. Heroin, cocaine and antidepressant medication Amitriptyline were found in his system.
A full inquest will be heard on October 4.
