THERE were three more coronavirus deaths recorded in Oxford over the last week.

A total of 220 people had died in the area when the UK coronavirus dashboard was updated yesterday (August 10) – up from 217 a week previously.

They were among 24,037 deaths recorded across the South East.

The figures include anyone who died within 28 days of a positive test result for Covid-19, and whose usual residence was in Oxford.

A total of 162,550 deaths were recorded throughout England by August 10 (Wednesday) – up from 161,560 last week.

Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in Oxfordshire has gone down again this week.

The total went from 779 to 570 in one week, a decrease of 26.8 per cent, putting the infection rate at 81.8 per 100,000 of the population.

In Oxford, the number of cases also went down from 157 to 102 in one week – a 35 per cent decrease, putting the infection rate at 67.3.

The highest number of cases was reported in Cowley North, where 14 people tested positive.
