A LITTLEMORE man has been jailed for breaching a sexual harm prevention order banning him from going within 100m of any children’s play area.

George Philip Lyndon, 49, was handed the order by Reading magistrates in July following an application by Thames Valley Police.

The order, which is in place for five years, prevents him from having contact with under-16s, going within 100m of any school, nursery, play park, location or event where children congregate, owning an internet-enabled device without the approval of the police or associating with those ‘known to be registered sex offenders’.

Appearing before Oxford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, Lyndon, of Eastern Avenue, Oxford, pleaded guilty to breaching the order by ‘attending a location which was within 100m of a nursery, playground or other area’ where children congregate. He was found at the unnamed location – in Oxford – on August 2.

The magistrates sentenced him to eight months’ imprisonment for the offence, which carries a maximum penalty of five years behind bars.

The sexual harm prevention order remains in force until July 2027. He continues to be a registered sex offender, required to regularly sign-on at Abingdon police station, for five years.
