THE regular evening broadcast of ITV News Meridian was cancelled at 6pm this evening (10) due to a fire alarm.

The system went off about five minutes before the show, which is filmed in Whiteley, Hampshire, was due to start.

Presenters had to leave the tower and stand outside while Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service checked the building was safe to re-enter.
