Police are investigating a fire at an address in East Oxford.

Shocking pictures show the damage to the first-floor flat.

The fire broke out at approximately 00.45 hours on August 9.

Crews from Slade Park Fire Station and Rewley Road Fire Station responded to reports of the blaze.

On arrival they found an extremely well developed fire in a first floor property.

Crews using breathing apparatus entered the property and worked extremely hard in challenging conditions to search for anyone inside, extinguish the fire, and prevent it from spreading to neighbouring flats, said Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

It was established there was no-one inside the property, and all neighbouring properties were safely evacuated.

The cause of the fire is under joint investigation by Thames Valley Police and the fire service.
