In 2019, Luciana Gyuricza and her husband Christian opened Teardrop bar in the Covered Market.
After establishing the Church Hanbrewery in West Oxfordshire they moved into the historic market in Oxford to open the bar.
And despite the coronavirus pandemic, their enterprise in the market has proved so popular it has been growing ever since.

After the bar came The Market Cellar Door, a wine cellar in a neighbouring unit.
Then followed Sartorelli’s, selling pizza from the former Nash’s bakery unit.
Now Mrs Gyuricza has come up with the idea of offering beer flights and wine flights to customers.
They can sit outside, sample various wines and beers with cheese from the Oxford Cheese Company, and take a break from their busy lives.
Then, if they have enjoyed a particular beer or wine they can buy bottles to take home.
Mrs Gyuricza said: “We have grown since we arrived in 2019 and I do feel we are very much part of the market now.

“We are the first business to be selling beer and wine at the market for a long time.
“We are open seven days a week and I am here at Teardrop most days while my colleague Stuart McAllister runs the wine shop.
“It’s a nice vibe - when Nash’s closed we thought we would take the opportunity to start selling pizza.
“Every day I come here I think it’s amazing that I have got a shop at the Covered Market.”
Mrs Gyuricza said the wine cellar sells about 200 different wines from all around the world.
If customers live locally, then the wine can be delivered.
Discussions are now taking place among traders at the Covered Market regarding longer opening hours.
The city council has launched a public consultation, which is open until August 23.

City councillor Imogen Thomas said earlier: “The council is working to ensure the historic Covered Market thrives well into the future, and provides the variety of options for entertainment, socialising and shopping that customers want to see.
“We’re keen to hear how local people and visitors to the city would like extended opening hours to happen.
“This could be the first time in its long history the Covered Market will play a part in Oxford’s night time economy, potentially providing a meeting place for people going to the theatre or other social events.
“It would also give people a chance to visit and shop after work hours.”
Mrs Gyuricza said: “We would be in favour of longer opening hours - we would be happy to stay open until about 9pm.”
