A top Michelin-starred chef is to make a return to the kitchen of The Swan Inn in Swinbrook.

Two Michelin-starred Philip Howard runs Elystan Street restaurant in London's Chelsea and was previously at The Square in London.

He gained his cooking skills while working under Marco Pierre White at Harvey’s and Simon Hopkinson at Bibendum.

In a repeat of an event last July, Mr Howard will be cooking a five-course menu for guests for one night on August 18.

There will also be a charity auction on the night to raise funds that will be split between a host of local charities.

The head chef at the Swan, which was named Dining Pub of the Year by The Good Pub Guide and holds two prestigious AA Rosettes, is Hubert Kosmala, a friend of Mr Howard who asked him to once again come and take over for the night, all in the name of a good cause.

“He offered ‘to take to the stove’ and come and boss me around again”, said Mr Kosmala.

“He really is an icon of the kitchen and well repsected, not just in the UK but around the world, it is a pleasure to welcome him back.”

The Swan has been used as a set for Downton Abbey and once belonged to one of the Mitford sisters, Deborah, who went onto marry the Duke of Devonshire.
