A MAN was arrested after a teenager was hit with a glass bottle at an Oxford nightclub.

At about 2.50am on July 30, an 18-year-old man was hit with a glass bottle, while at ATIK in Park End Street.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment for a head injury, and has since been discharged.

A 19-year-old man from Tilehurst, Reading, was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and has been released under investigation.

Investigating officer PC Lorna Benjamin, based at Cowley police station, said: “This assault took place on the dance floor of the ATIK nightclub, causing a head injury to the victim, who required hospital treatment.

“I am appealing to anybody who was in the nightclub and witnessed this incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police, either by making a report online, or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220337582.

“Alternatively, for anonymity, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“I am aware that there were a number of people still at the venue at the time of this incident, and I’m confident that there will have been witnesses to what has happened.

“I would urge anybody with any information to contact us.”
