The Brewery Tap is a friendly pub in Abingdon which has something for everyone, according to its manager.

The pub in Ock Street, on the site of the former Morlands brewery, is in the top 10 pubs competing to be named Oxford Mail Best Pub 2022.

Currently the Oxford branch of real ale group CAMRA’s town and country Pub of the Year, The Brewery Tap also well known for its Sunday roasts, is a popular live music venue, the HQ for the town’s Morris Dancers, and very much a favourite for local drinkers as well as visitors.

Bar manager Ryan Baldwin said: “We are delighted to be in the top 10 nominations and I hope our customers now vote for us to be the winners.

“I really do think The Brewery Tap has something for everyone - lots of our customers have been with us since the pub opened in the early 1990s and people sitting at different tables all chat together - it’s a friendly atmosphere.

“People can eat outside if they like al fresco dining and we have a stage for local bands.

“We also have three double bedrooms and sometimes they get booked by people walking the Thames Path.”

Mr Baldwin said drinkers enjoyed coming to the pub for the ‘chilled atmosphere and live bands’.

He added: “We always have locally brewed beers including Loose Cannon and from a brewery in Milton called LoveBeer.

Oxford Mail:

“Our Sunday roasts which are served from 12 until 4pm are also very popular.”

The Brewery Tap building is owned by Heineken’s pub division, Star Pubs and Bars, with the business owned by Matt Heritage.
