The National Trust has revealed a list of things to look forward in Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire when autumn comes back around.

The conservation charity has said the number one thing to look forward to is the autumn colours.

“Seeing our wooded valleys turn a kaleidoscope of yellows, bronze and burnt orange is a beautiful gift of nature before winter draws in,” a spokesperson for the trust said.

Following this, the golden light of autumn afternoons is a must see sight around National Trust properties.

The spokesperson explained: “The slanting sun bathes houses, gardens, landscapes and faces in a honeyed light and your selfies will benefit from a naturally flattering filter that no software can reproduce.”

One of the best places for golden afternoon selfies has been listed as Greys Court, near Henley, framed by the pergola with the Tower in the background.

Another event to look forward to is are Heritage Open Days, which is England’s largest festival of history and culture.

Participating places are open for free entry on certain days throughout the festival, which is 9-18 September.

The National Trust is a conservation charity founded in 1895 by Octavia Hill, Sir Robert Hunter and Hardwicke Rawnsley, who saw the importance of the nation's heritage and open spaces and wanted to preserve them for everyone to enjoy.

The charity receives on average more than 26.9 million visits each year to the places it cares for that have an entry fee and an estimated 100m visits to the outdoor places that are free of charge.
