A man arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage to a grocery shop in Oxford has been released under investigation.

The 42-year-old from Standlake was released following the incident at the premises on Cowley Road. 

In the early hours of the Wednesday morning, at around 12.30am, three police cars and an unmarked vehicle were spotted in front of Asian grocery and convenience store Tahmids. 

An eye witness described the man being arrested and taken away in the police car. 

Police guarded the road for around 30 minutes after the arrest.

They appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
