The exclusive Wolseley Café in Bicester Village is closing.

The all-day cafe-restaurant, which is part of The Wolseley Hospitality Group, opened in 2018 in premises formerly occupied by French bistro Villandry in the designer outlet shopping village.

It is part of The Wolseley Hospitality Group which includes A-list haunt The Wolseley in London's Piccadilly.

In a statement the group said: "We are incredibly sorry to announce, that after four successful years of Café Wolseley at Bicester Village, we will be closing this evening for the final time.

"We would like to thank you, our customers who have visited us over that time; we have loved being part of the community here in Oxfordshire, and it has been a pleasure to have welcomed so many of you through our doors.

"Regrettably, our landlords have taken advantage of a technicality in the lease agreement and forced us to close, despite enjoying our strongest trading results ever and a with committed team of managers and staff in place.

"We do hope to see some of you in our London restaurants and we will keep you updated with our desire to move Café Wolseley to a new location.

"For now, thank you and farewell."

The cafe was decorated in the group's signature style with black gloss, mirrors and art nouveau decor.

Bicester Village has been contacted.
