A new superstore is due to open for a ‘soft launch’ after delays in construction pushed back the original opening date.

Village Super, an Asian superstore is set to open on Saturday July 30 from 11am, in the Bicester Shopping Park.

A spokesperson promoting the opening on Facebook said: “It has been quite a journey, as delays in construction have caused our opening date to be pushed back, but we are finally opening our doors for a soft launch, because we don’t want to keep our customers waiting any longer.

“This event will be an invitation only for the ceremony, but we would also like to invite the community to join us in the fun and watch our Lion Dance show.

“We will also provide some light refreshments for you all and don’t forget to collect your voucher to use in our store; limited availability.”

The opening event will see a handful of special guests in attendance.

Kit Cheung, the founder of Perfume Trees, Craft Gin of Hong Kong will be swinging by in his first stop in the UK to showcase his gin.

In addition, the event will see Trini showcasing their Hong Kong Milk Tea, snacks from Banneton Basket and the store will also sell Tarsier’s Thai Gin once their new products are out.

The spokesperson added: “The team at Village Super will work very hard to stock up all of the shelves once we have opened.

“We will keep everybody informed by announcing on our social media when new products are in.

“We look forward to seeing people very soon.”

The new superstore is being delivered by Grand Village Imperial (GVI), an artful Chinese restaurant with traditional decor located in Bicester Shopping Park.

The restaurant opened in December 2020, although had to close just one week later due to lockdown.

Reopening after the series of lockdowns, food served at the venue now includes a range of Dim Sum and an A La Carte menu with traditional dishes such as crispy aromatic duck, won tons and ribs.

In addition, the eatery offers fresh cakes made to order by its own patisserie chefs, who use a mixture of traditional French and Oriental baking techniques.

Further, the restaurant claims that all its cakes are baked and made freshly on the premises on the same day a customer comes to collect it, using the best ingredients and freshest fruit available.

Also on offer is an impressive drinks menu full of white, red and rose wines, champagne, beer, cider, cocktails, spirits, soft drinks and hot drinks.
