Entries have piled in for Oxford Mail's Design a Van competition - and now the tough task of choosing the winners has begun.

More than 100 entries were sent in for our competition which gave readers the chance to come up with ideas for an imaginative new emblem for three of our delivery vans. The closing date was Friday The competition asked readers to come up with bold designs to promote our website, oxfordmail.co.uk Trudy Wilkes, regional digital media manager for the Oxford Mail, said: "I've been really impressed by everything that I have seen so far.

"Some designs have gone for a very detailed approach, while others have kept it simple - but they are all fantastic.

"I've been amazed at the ways people have managed to incorporate the theme of the Internet into their designs to promote our website."

Mrs Wilkes said there had been entries in all three age categories - ages seven -11, 12-18 and 18 and over.

She added: "It's great that people of all ages have got involved in this and we've also had a lot of group entries from schools.

"I was also pleased to see that people had been going online and entering via our website, oxfordmail.co.uk"

Mrs Wilkes said it would now be a difficult task to choose the three winning designs by the end of the month.

She said: "With so many good designs to choose from it's going to be hard, but thankfully I will have two people helping me with it."

Oxford Mail editor Simon O'Neill will be on the panel of three judges responsible for selecting the three winning designs.

Mr O'Neill said: "It's going to be a tough job picking the winners but I'm looking forward to seeing the designs our readers have come up with.

"Our new vans will take pride of place in our delivery fleet and will be seen by thousands of people across the county."
