A company offering office accommodation has undergone another major expansion, thanks to demand from small firms and sole traders. The Clarendon Enterprise Centre has taken another floor of Prama House, a former Oxfam building on the corner of South Parade in Summertown, Oxford.

And the move has already prompted interest from new tenants, as well as existing occupiers upgrading after outgrowing their original office.

Managing director Julian Cooper said that when he took the second floor of Prama House in November 2006, it had filled up in five months.

Now he expects the same to happen with the third floor, which was officially opened by Oxford West and Abingdon MP Dr Evan Harris.

Mr Cooper added: "Even we were surprised by how quickly it filled up. Now we have people moving upstairs from the second floor because they have grown within the centre.

"We are very proud of what we are doing for the city, supporting more than 200 businesses."

The Clarendon Enterprise Centre was originally opened by Dr Harris ten years ago in Cornmarket Street, Oxford, after Mr Cooper decided to take up an idea by his property developer father, Ken.

Now it operates a total of 36,000 sq ft of office space across three sites, the other being at Belsyre Court on the Woodstock Road. He also has a 16,000 sq ft property in Bournemouth.

Oxford tenants include publishers STM, telecommunications firm Teleservices and city centre management company OX1.

Clients can use the centre as a virtual office' with telephone answering and administration provided, or hire out the boardroom and meeting spaces on a short-term basis.
