Fire crews were called to an unattended disposable BBQ which set light to a log.

The Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue teams were called to reports of a fire in the open in a park in Kidlington.

Crews found a disposal BBQ which had been left unattended and the fire had spread to the large log it placed on.

An Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said: “Please remember not to leave any fires or BBQ’s unattended especially in this hot, dry spell of weather we are experiencing as the consequences can be severe with a risk to life and property.”

During the heatwave the fire service issued several warnings to the public about the dangers of leaving BBQs unattended.
