BRITAIN’S biggest Eurovision success act since 1998 will be performing at this year’s Truck Festival.

Sam Ryder, who came second in the European Song Contest in May with his hit song “Space Man”, will be performing at Oxfordshire’s biggest dedicate rock event next weekend.

The 33-year-old who rose to fame on TikTok during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown will be performing on the Market Stage on Sunday (24).

He finished first in the jury vote and second overall in the music competition, scoring United Kingdom the highest score since Imaani Saleem in 1998 with her song “Where Are You”.

The Essex musician was the latest addition to the festival having been announced alongside Planet, The Skinner Brothers, The Clause, Andrew Cushin, The Native, and more will be performing on The Feeling Stage.

BBC Introducing are also back with the V&V stage with the line-up including Oxfordshire bands such as Peaness, The People Versus, Danny Mellin, Tilly Valentine, 31Hours, Bushrod, Chloe August, and more.

Bombay Bicycle Club, Sam Fender and Kasabian are the headliners for the event in Hill Farm, Steventon, near Didcot, alongside Sigrid, The Kooks, Easy Life, Sigrid, Inhaler and “Milkshake” star Kelis.

The festival, which is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary, has been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic but has returned with some of the bands whose sets had previously been postponed

Others acts include Sports Team, Black Honey, Sundara Karma, Shame, The Big Moon, Yard Act, Baby Queen, Vistas, The Magic Gang, Orla Gartland, Spector, Do Nothing, The Orielles, Sorry, Lime Garden, Shame, The Goa Express and Phoebe Green.

More unusual attractions include a stretching session from television fitness guru Mr Motivator and a show by the Oxford Symphony Orchestra.

On the Palm City stage festival goers can expect headliners Bru-C, Wilkinson and Ewan McVicar alongside Mollie Collins, A Little Sound, Mozey, Kara, Chloe Robinson and Switch DJs.

The Nest Stage will be headlined by The Subways, Dinosaur Pile-Up and Alfie Templeman with support from acts such as Pulled Apart By Horses, Jaws, Sorry, Crawlers, and more.

A map of the festival site has recently been published showing the return of the iconic Truck sign near the main stage as well a ferris wheel, a chair-o-pane ride, dodgems and a kids area.

The festival also announced, in partnership with UN Women UK, the introduction of “Safe Spaces Now”, an initiative committed to tackling sexual harassment at live events while creating a safe and inclusive space for women and marginalised groups.

Tickets for the event are now sold out with many festivalgoers having their tickets from 2020 rolled over.
