A play written and performed by two ex-prison officers which challenges the entire prison system is set to be performed this week in Oxford.

Cell Outs will take to the stage at the Old Fire Station in George Street on July 14.

The show is drawn from the experiences of Ella Church and Harriet Troup, who both worked at prison officers.

Cell Outs provides ‘an unseen insight into the warped world of those working behind bars and the sacrifices made to ensure survival’.

The pair founded Glasshouse Theatre whilst working full-time and studying rehabilitation theory. The theatre company has taken shows into prison and run workshops for prisoners with the aim of challenging audiences, re-imagining the criminal justice system and tackle society’s perceptions.

Tickets are priced at £10 and can be purchased from the Old Fire Station website: oldfirestation.org.uk/whats-on/cell-outs/
