TWO people have been left with 'serious' injuries - including broken ribs - after being attacked with baseball bats during a fight in Oxford.
At around 3pm on Sunday, a large group of 10 men who were armed with weapons, baseball bats and cricket bats, walked towards another group in a park on Ridgefield Road (which is just off Cowley Road).
A fight broke out between the two groups and two people: a 24-year-old and a 25-year-old were left battered with broken arm, ribs, bruises and cuts on their heads.
They were so seriously injuried they were taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital to be checked over by doctors.
Police investigators have now revealed they think the fight started after another incident only an hour before.
Between 1pm and 2pm, a group of men drove a Seat Leon in Hollow Way and stopped in front of a dark coloured vehicle. Two of them got out of the car and unleashed an attack - punching and kicking the dark coloured car before the driver managed to make a getaway.
Since the incidents police officers have arrested three men aged 20, 31, and 42 who all live in Oxford. They were arrested on suspicion of assualt and possession of a weapon in a public place. The men have all been released on conditional bail while the investigations continue.
Police say everyone involved knows each other and people who live in Oxford and are nothing to do with the incident, don't need to be concerned.
But detective constable Daniel Hayward has now asked for anybody who saw something to come forward.
He said: “I would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area during the time of either of these incidents, witnessed anything or has information, to please get in touch.
“I’d also ask anyone who may have dash-cam or doorbell footage from the local area to please check it, in case it has captured something that could help the investigation.
“You can get in touch by either making a report online or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43220303935.
“Alternatively, for 100% anonymity, you can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
