TICKETS for a Christmas experience at Cholsey and Wallingford railway are going on sale next week.

The Polar Express Train Ride, a steam train and immersive theatre experience, is returning in December this year.

The experience brings the 2004 classic Christmas film The Polar Express to life on its steam train and children will be able to meet characters from the iconic film, including the conductor, the singing chefs and Mr Claus himself.

There will be cookies and hot chocolate as Father Christmas visits each carriage and children on the nice list will receive a silver bell from Santa’s sleigh.

After the train ride, there will also be a Santa workshop at the railway where children can write him a letter, check who’s on the nice list and visit the gift shop.

Organisers recommend families come dressed in their pyjamas for a full Christmas experience.

The event had to be cancelled last year due to urgent sewage works on the railway.

The railway company said the works by Thames Water meant there would be no toilet facilities on site and that the situation was beyond their control and offered their customers refunds or the opportunity to rebook in 2022.

Tickets for this year’s event will go on sale on Wednesday July 13 and you can sign up to the waitlist for early access, visiting https://cholseythepolarexpressride.com/
