A woman who jumped from an A40 overbridge in Witney died of multiple injuries, Oxford Coroner’s Court heard.

Jessica Walker, 30, was seen by a motorist walking in the middle of Stanton Harcourt Road shortly before 10pm on June 5.

Opening an inquest into the cleaner’s death, senior coroner Darren Salter said the driver had tried to help the woman.

Despite the offer of help, Ms Walker was said to have jumped from the bridge. The Good Samaritan ran back to her car, placing a call to 999 at 10pm.

Tragically, Ms Walker was struck by a vehicle. A post-mortem examination found she had died from multiple injuries sustained in the fall and the collision.

Mr Salter fixed the inquest into her death for October 26.
