A car superfan got the ultimate ride to prom, thanks to a local car meet-up group.

Petrol head Harvey Thomas attended Carterton Community College’s prom yesterday evening (June 29).

The teen arrived at the event in style thanks to Southside Rollers, a meet-up group and community for car enthusiasts in the local area.

Harvey was escorted to the prom in a convoy of BMWs, Volvos, Mercedes and motorcycles decked out in ribbons, which took over the A40.

Duncan Wileman, who shared photos with the Oxford Mail and whose son is friends with Harvey, said he “loved it” and had a great time both heading to, and at, the prom.

To organise the convoy, car fan Harvey got in touch with Southside Rollers founder, Luke Cripps.

Mr Cripps in turn rallied the community around to give the teenager a ride he would not forget.

Going forward, Mr Wileman says the group plans to do more things like this in the future.
