Police are appealing for witnesses after a man chased a victim with a hammer while passersby took cover.

The incident happened sometime between 7pm and 7.30pm yesterday (25/6), when a man got out of the rear of a vehicle holding a hammer and threw glass bottles at another man on Greenwood Way in Didcot.

The offender then chased the victim and multiple members of the public had to take shelter inside a business.

The offender then got back into the same vehicle, which drove off in the direction of Wantage Road.

PC Benjamin Shillam, based at Wantage police station, said: “I am appealing to anybody who witnessed this incident to please get in touch with us.

“Also, if you have any CCTV footage in the area or any dash-cam footage if you were in the area around the time, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist our investigation.
