The jailing of two bungling drug dealers shows police ‘take issues of drug supply very seriously’, an officer said.

Lewis Ayre, 23, and Dominic Daly-Vint, 30, were caught after police officers who had been watching them sell drugs on the streets of Banbury followed their taxi.

Daly-Vint had a house key on him and, when it was searched, police found the flat was being used to store hard drugs.

The pair were jailed at Oxford Crown Court last week, together receiving a total of 10 years’ imprisonment.

Welcoming the sentences, PC Jordan McClay of Bicester police station said: “I am very pleased this investigation has resulted in these convictions.

“I hope this shows people that we take issues of drug supply very seriously, and anyone involved will be targeted by the Stronghold team to bring offenders to justice.

“We continue to need the support of the public in this, and we would ask them to report any information that they have about drug dealing.”

He urged anyone with information about drug dealing to contact Thames Valley Police on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, by calling 0800 555 111.

Ayre and Daly-Vint’s co-defendant, Samantha Halliday, 30, received a two-year suspended sentence. She had returned to the flat while it was being searched by the police following the raid last March.
