A 37-YEAR-old man has been charged for allegedly carrying two machetes and cannabis in a public space.

Graham Oliver, of Burford Road, Black Bourton in Bampton, was allegedly caught with the machetes in Stockport, Greater Manchester, on Friday (17).

He was stopped on the A34 Kingsway by Greater Manchester Police and was also charged with possession of a controlled class B drug.

He is now due to stand trial at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Monday, October 17.

Oliver remains on unconditional bail until the trial which means he does not have to remain in prison while awaiting the court case and has no further restrictions placed upon him.
