A nursing home has provided a girls football team with a new home kit after sponsoring them.

Merryfield House Nursing Home in New Yatt Road, Witney has sponsored Witney Vikings Girls football squad.

Fran Torres, home manager, said: “We are pleased to be able to be involved in and support the local community in any way we can”.

Staff are now hoping to bring some of the residents down to watch local matches when the season starts again in the autumn.

The team, who play in the Oxfordshire Girls purple league, came to Merryfield House to have their photograph taken in their new kit.

It is hoped they will be able to visit the residents in the near future and show off their skills with a kickabout in the garden.

Claire O’Sullivan, Merryfield administrator, said: “It is important for our residents to have as much interaction as possible with people and they are looking forward to seeing more of the girls in the coming months.”
