Neighbours called the fire brigade after smoke alarms were activated by a pan that had been left on the hob while the homeowner went out shopping.
Crews from Witney and Rewley Road Fire Station were called to reports of a property fire in the Smith’s Estate area of Witney at around 9pm.
Neighbours were alerted by the smoke detectors going off.
Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service posted on Facebook: "And through their quick thinking, managed to alert us and prevent a fire from occurring."
