Firefighters rescued a cow stuck in the river after it cried for “help”.

On Tuesday June 14 at 3.15pm Fire crew from Rewley Road and Slade Fire Station rushed to help a cow that had become stuck in the river near the Tandem pub in Kennington, Oxford.

Using lines fire crews managed to secure the calf and rescue it from the water.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue service shared a picture on Facebook of the crews wearing life jackets and rescuing the cow using ropes.

Firefighter Andy Durndell said: “The young cow might not have survived if it wasn’t for a father and daughter that spotted the calf and called for help.”

He added: “The cow looked relieved to be out and back with its friends.”
