Oxfordshire child who found stolen crochet snake gifted her own serpent

A woolly snake created by an anonymous artist who placed the reptile near the junction of Worcester Drive and Sandringham Road in Didcot was reported stolen.

At the time the artist told the Oxford Mail that the theft had made them “really sad”.

But, after launching a social media campaign to find the snake, the missing serpent was found by seven-year-old Alexys Redford.

Who then received a smaller version of the original crocheted snake as a thank you from the artist.

The ambulance team at Oxfordshire Wildlife Rescue, based in Didcot, found the critter cold, non-responsive, and very weak.

Thankfully the team managed to find a viable vein for IV fluid therapy and gently warmed the fox back to normal body temperature.

Her condition has been slowly improving since.

 

Wallingford’s new summer festival Crowfest is a success

A NEW music festival aimed at raising money for a village football club, was hailed a success after selling out.

Music lovers descended on Crowmarsh Gifford, near Wallingford, for Crowfest, which took place on the Crowmarsh Recreation Ground off Benson Lane.

The inaugural event, on Friday, saw revellers queueing up to back the event in aid of Crowmarsh Youth Football Club.

 

Sinodun player’s Encore group to perform this month

YOUNG actors in Wallingford are performing together for the first time in two years after the coronavirus pandemic.

Encore, the youth section of the performing arts group Sinodun Players, are coming back together for a performance of Shakespeare Shake-up at the end of this month.

 

Faith Featherstone performs with Diversity in Oxford

AN eight-year-old girl from Didcot was selected from a theatre crowd to record a song with Britain’s Got Talent’s dance troupe, Diversity.

Faith Featherstone, who has been dancing her whole life, went to watch the musical group perform at New Theatre in Oxford last week with her mum Jennie and a friend.

The British street dance troupe led by choreographer Ashley Banjo, who are best known for winning the third season of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009, are currently touring the UK and were in Oxford for two nights.

On Tuesday, May 31, Faith was chosen from the audience by dancer Jordan Banjo to record part of a song that they would later dance to in the show.

 

New Franco Manca pizza restaurant set to come to Oxford

PIZZA chain Franco Manca has plans to open ANOTHER branch in Oxford.

The popular Italian pizzeria already has a restaurant on George Street.

Now the plan is to take over an empty unit underneath the newly built EasyHotel and wedged between a tile shop and café ‘Crepe Affaire’ on Banbury Road in Summertown.
