A serious crash which saw Botley Road closed earlier this afternoon was not fatal, police say.

Traffic was brought to a standstill for 40 minutes after police put a road block in place following the incident.

Emergency scrambled to the scene and by 2pm Botley Road was closed in both directions to vehicles and pedestrians.

The incident appeared to happened on the bridge, next to St Frideswide's Church and near to Ferry Hinksey Road.

A witness at the scene told the Oxford Mail that a female cyclist was alleged knocked off her bike by a vehicle.

Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that the incident did not result in a fatality however the force was unable to provide further details because of its policy on collisions.
