The city comes out on top by paying works an average of £11.08, with Aberdeen following behind with £10.20 and Perth in third place with £10.19.

The lowest paying cities below the national living wage are Colchester (£9.03), Derry (£9.10), and Bradford (£9.15).

The research also found that 74 out of 132 locations in the UK pay the same or above the national living wage (56 per cent).

This shows there is still some improvement to be made by employers.
