• Double yellow lines: Oxfordshire County Council is proposing to ‘help reduce obstruction and improve highway safety’ by introducing double yellow lines in East Oxford.

The restrictions will see double yellows on both sides of Reliance Way between the junction with Cowley Road and the spur leading to Saunders Road.

The double yellows will replace areas of unrestricted parking, while allocated parking bays will remain available for parking.

The northeast side of Saunders Road, in front of the bollards at the junction of Reliance Way, in addition to the southeast side outside property numbers 42 to 58, will also see double yellows.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made may be sent in writing to the council by June 24.

• Parking restrictions in West Oxfordshire: The county council is proposing bringing in double yellow lines, parking restrictions, and a speed reduction in Charlbury, under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and other enabling powers the council has.

The below measures are planned, to ‘help reduce occurrences of obstruction and improve highway safety’.

The current 30mph speed limit on the B4026 Pound Hill/ Charlbury Road will be extended northwards by approximately 530 metres, replacing the existing 40mph speed limit in the process.

Double yellow parking restrictions will be added to both sides of Grammar School Hill, from the current 20mph speed limit, northwards for approximately 50 metres.

There will also be double yellows added on the western side of Thames Street, opposite the junction with Nine Acres Lane, for approximately 20 metres.

Existing double yellows are set to be extended too, in the town.

Restrictions on both sides of Nine Acres Lane, east of the junction with Thames Street, will be extended by 23 metres.

In Church Street and Browns Lane, existing restrictions will be extended on the north side by seven metres and 18 and a half metres, respectively.

Furthermore, two new one-hour permitted parking bays are set to be introduced on the western side of Market Street.

The bays will be located as follows: a 20-metre bay 31 and a half metres north of the junction with Church Street, and an 18-metre bay 58 metres north of the junction with Church Street.

Objections to the proposals and other representations specifying the grounds on which they are made can be sent in writing to the county council by June 24.

• Thame 10k road race: The county council is proposing to introduce a traffic order, to enable the the annual Thame 10k road race to take place on June 26.

The notice issued by the local authority states: “The council is satisfied that it is not appropriate for the event to take place wholly off road.”

The effect of the order is to temporarily stop any vehicle from proceeding or waiting: between 8.55am and 9.15am on June 26, from Oxford Road roundabout (A418) to Lower High Street, at its junction with Southern Road, and on the B4012 Thame Eastern Bypass, between its junctions with the A4129 Kingsey Road and the B4445 Chinnor Road between 9am and 10am.

Exemptions are included for emergency services, emergency works, and for access to adjacent premises which are only accessible from the closed sections of road.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the B4012 closure is via Kingsey Road, East Street, Park Street, Chinnor Road, and Garden City and vice versa.

There is no alternative route for the Oxford Road and High Street closures.
