FOUR people have been taken to hospital after a crash on the A40.

Gloucestershire Constabulary said officers were called to the A40 London Road just after 8.40am this morning after reports of a crash involving two cars near Bedwell Farm, Northleach.

Three people were taken to John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, with serious injuries, and a fourth was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. 

The road has been closed between the Northleach and Burford roundabouts. The Farmington junction has also been closed by police. 

"Motorists are asked to use alternative routes. The closures are likely to be in place for a number of hours," a force spokesman said. 

Emergency services remain at the scene.
