ROAD closures for an annual road race, in addition to reduced speed limits on the A44 Woodstock Road for works on the North Oxford Corridor improvements scheme are just some of the public notices issued by local councils in the last week.

Each week, local authorities in Oxfordshire issue the notices, which cover roadworks, in addition to both licensing and planning applications.

Thame 10K Road Race: The annual road race, organised by Rod Lavers on behalf of Thame Runners, takes place on June 26.

All traffic is prohibited from proceeding or waiting:

a) between 8.55am and 9.15am on 26 June from Oxford Road roundabout (A418) to the Lower High Street, Thame, at its junction with Southern Road

b) on the B4012 Thame Eastern By-Pass, between its junctions with the A4129 Kingsey Road and the B4445 Chinnor Road between 9:00am and 10:00am.

The alternative route for traffic affected by the B4012 closure is via Kingsey Road, East Street, Park Street, Chinnor Road and Garden City and vice versa. There is no alternative route for the Oxford Road and High Street closures.

New double yellow lines in East Oxford: Oxfordshire County Council proposes to introduce new sections of double yellow lines (no waiting at any time) to help reduce obstruction and improve highway safety on roads in East Oxford as follows:

a) Reliance Way - on both sides between the junction with Cowley Road and the spur leading to Saunders Road. New double yellows will replace areas of unrestricted parking outside allocated parking bays

b) Saunders Road - a) on the northeast side in front of the bollards at its junction with Reliance Way, and b) on the southeast side outside property numbers 42-58 for approximately 50 metres.

Amended eligibility for residents parking: Oxfordshire County Council proposes to amend eligibility of the following properties to apply for residents and visitors parking permits as follows:

Reduced speed limits Pear Tree Interchange: Coming into force on June 1 as part of the North Oxford Corridor improvements scheme which is anticipated to be completed on March 31 2023.

NOC is a scheme consisting of several road improvement projects along the A44, A4260 Frieze Way and the A4165 Oxford Road/Bicester Road.

Three schemes are being implemented which the council hopes will allow easy access into Oxford city centre and support the ongoing housing and employment developments by improving bus journey times and reliability and improving pedestrian and cycle connectivity for work and leisure trips into the city.

The existing 60 and 70 mph national speed limits applicable to the following sections of roads will be reduced for works safety:

1. A44 Wolvercote roundabout to Pear Tree roundabout -70mph to 30mph;

2. A44 Pear Tree to (Frieze Way) Loop Farm roundabout -70mph to 30mph;

3.A44 Loop Farm roundabout to Cassington Road roundabout, Yarnton - 60mph to 30 mph, and road lanes narrowed for works purposes;

4. A44/A34 Pear Tree interchange roundabout - to 30mph;

5. A4260 Frieze Way dual-carriageway, approach to Loop Farm roundabout from Kidlington - 70mph to 50mph;

6. A34 slip roads, southbound and northbound exit slip roads - 70mph to 50mph.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force.
