Blenheim has launched new incentives to encourage visitors to use sustainable transport.

Anyone booking online will receive a 30 per cent discount on their ticket if they can prove they arrived via public transport, by bike or in a fully electric vehicle.

As an added motivation, they can upgrade their reduced admission to an annual pass for no additional cost.

Blenheim Palace has also launched a free weekend shuttle bus service to make it more convenient to arrive by train.

The free return shuttle buses depart every 30 minutes from Hanborough Station and operate from 9.10am to 5.40pm on Saturday and Sunday to coincide with GWR train arrival and departure times.

Visitors are also being asked if they would like to donate £5 to offset their carbon which will go directly to the tree-planting scheme on the Blenheim Estate.

“Our goal is to encourage more of our visitors to make their journey to us easier, cheaper and greener with a series of new incentives and additional infrastructure,” said Blenheim CEO Dominic Hare.

“We want to be able to offer people viable low carbon travel alternatives and this new bus service is a vital link in the public transport chain allowing visitors to complete their journey to us in a hassle-free way."

Oxford Bus Company is providing the shuttle service on Blenheim's behalf.

Over half their fleet of around 120 vehicles are electric-hybrid buses.

Blenheim is also encouraging visitors to staycation in the area rather than day trip and prioritising suppliers who are local or low/zero carbon.
