A man poured vodka over his then partner’s leg before setting fire to it.

Michael Lincoln, 56, also held the woman by the throat and punched her twice to the face – leaving her with black eyes, Oxford Crown Court heard.

Appearing before Judge Michael Gledhill QC on Wednesday morning, Lincoln, of Donnington Bridge Road, Oxford, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, damaging a TV belonging to his victim and assault by beating. The offences were committed between February 25 and April 3 this year.

Two other allegations - of wounding with intent and controlling or coercive behaviour - were denied.

Prosecutor Cathy Olliver said those pleas were acceptable to the Crown.

Judge Gledhill ordered a probation report and remanded Lincoln in custody to return to court on June 23 for sentence.
