A WILDLIFE park situated by the River Thames is hosting a “teddy bear picnic” to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Beale Wildlife Park, of Lower Basildon in Pangbourne, is hosting a four-day party from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5.

There will be “special attractions” including stilt walkers dressed as animals and birds, a “bubbleologist”, a “monster” inflatable slide, and the sale of “bear rescue packs” to support the rescue of bears farmed for their bile.

A daily lunchtime teddy bear’s picnic will take place and families are encouraged to bring an “army of soft toys” to enjoy the day.

The park also has new animal attractions such as Highland Cattle, a python, reindeer guanacos and a female lynx alongside favourites such as the meerkat, zebra and lemurs,

Lucy Costello, CEO of the park, said: “We really want to help our visitors to create some happy memories of this very special national celebration

“The teddy bears and other soft toys will be a very appropriate way for us to express our love of animals and the sheer diversity of what we have on offer.

“Berkshire is a royal county with a tremendous affection for the Queen and all that she has achieved in her long reign.
